Wat Arun in Bangkok - Temple of Dawn

Wat Arun, also known as “The Temple of Dawn”, is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, in Bangkok Yai district of Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is a famous tourist destination amongst tourists visiting Thailand, and naturally should be on you r list of places to go to as you plan your next visit. The temple has a bit of a history. It has been around for centuries now, and has undergone restoration and evolution through time. It is the most well known land mark for Thailand, and is featured in newspapers whenever Thailand is mentioned in relation to its beauty and charm. The spires that were restored in 2017 are reflected in the waters of the Chao Phraya river, and there beauty becomes manifolds as the night falls, and the lights in the spires are turned on. The structure comprises of a central spire that is decorated by porcelain, a tall stupa like structure rising as tall as 82 meters in height. At the top of the spire is a seven pronged trident referred to as the trident of the Hindu god, Shiva. The central spire is surrounded by four satellite spirres that have been decorated and ornated with sea-shells, which the boats in olden times that used to travel from China to Bangkok used to bring. The temple is accessible through the river flowing in front of it. Tourists make use of the ferries to board off at the Maharaja pier to get to the temple.
