Karon Viewpoint is on Highway 4233 located between Nai Harn and Kata Noi Beaches in the southwest of Phuket Island. It is at a maximum 10-minute drive from Kata Beach and a further 10-minute drive to Nai Harn Beach. Karon view point aka Kata viewpoint is one of the major spots during city tours in the tour itineraries. It is a perfect stop during the city tour. The place is locally known as ‘Khao Sam Had’ which means “Hill of three beaches”. One can see 3 beautiful bays namely Kata Noi Beach, Kata Bay, and Karon Beach from this point. Koh Pu Island is also visible on the left side. This viewpoint gives an outlook of spectacular white sandy beaches and the jungles surrounding it. The majestic Big Buddha can also be seen from here. It also has a Pagoda temple which is not really a major attraction of this place but adds some interest. There are some small shops along the point selling snacks and cold drinks along with some good cafes. It is a great place to sit and enjoy nature. This place is surely a photographer’s gem. Go there to admire the picture perfect beauty from an amazing height. One can see a couple of fishing boats pass in the distance. It is also suggested to visit early in the morning to enjoy the windy site and clear sky. During days it's sunshine or cloud covers. The place is also famous as the sunset point. The timings of sunset vary between 6:15 pm and 6:45 pm. You can hire a scooter or take tuk-tuk as it is at the top of the hill. Walking is not recommended. There is good space for parking so you can consider private transport too. Whenever there, do look out for the guy with the monkeys and guy with the birds. He lets you click pictures with hawks for just 100 baths. There is also a service of binocular view for just 10 bahts. This place is totally worth the visit.
