Rawai Art Village
This village is known to be the most relaxed place in Phuket, it is located in southern Phuket and is visited by many tourists every year. This place is not a normal art village, but an art community that has a group of artists who are called “the Rawai artists”. The chief of the village, Somrak Maneemai, explains that many artists, musicians, painters, actors and song writers ended up living in Rawai because of the cheap cost of living and that Rawai is cheaper than many other areas in Phuket. There are many galleries and studios in the Rawai village, so if you want visit them, it is better to make an appointment with the artists to make sure that they are not out buying paint or anything. Most of the artists living in the village welcome visitors anytime and are usually very friendly.
Galleries in Rawai Village
There are many galleries in the village like love arts studio which includes oil paintings that reveal the feelings of the artist, Kitipong Ngosiri, like sadness, anger, joy or fear. This gallery opens from 10 am till 10 pm. Another famous gallery is Rak Lay gallery which is owned by Bamrungchoo and Kerrily Jennigns. This gallery produces original paintings and photographs that mix between black and white colours. You will also be able to buy hand-made sculptures, stone animals, jewellery and shirts as souvenirs for your friends and family from B Zenter. Red Gallery art studio is also full with paintings and the owner of it is Khun Somrak’s who explains that people have to see his work to know his style.
